ROYAL DOCKS SWIM SERIES (RDSS) IS COMING THIS SUMMER: 6-8 JUNE 2025

The event will host 3 swim distances over 3 days:

• RD1: 1k swim on Friday evening
• RD3: 3k swim on Saturday afternoon
• RD5: 5k swim on Sunday morning

Participants will swim in one of the 3 waves – Relaxed, Medium and Fast. All waves are mass start.

If you are taking part in the iconic Dock2Dock swim event, then the RDSS is the perfect way to train as you’ll be swimming in the same body of water.

But the RDSS is not just for racers, if you prefer to swim at a more leisurely pace, then it’s a wonderful way to take part in a local event that is fun and friendly.

DOCK2DOCK is back on Saturday, 16 August 2025 and is set to be an epic event to celebrate an iconic decade!

London’s most iconic swim event will once again give you the chance to swim the historical London Royal Docks. This not just any swim meet, it’s a unique experience where you will be swimming alongside the London City Airport runway while planes are actively taking off and landing. Five core distances to choose from – 1.5k, 3k, 5k, 10k, EPIC 15k, and a special 20k feature swim to celebrate their 10th anniversary – all with very generous swim cut-off times. Dock2Dock is an inclusive event and suitable for every ability.

In the sheltered waters of Barn Pool Beach, this is a stunning location in the heart of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park & just a short ferry ride from Plymouth.

Three distances 750m,1500m & 3K are offered. All competitors will receive an event t shirt, medal, hat, plus professional first aid, water safety & chip timing. Wetsuits will not be required for this swim. However, for first-time open water swimmers they are highly recommended. They will keep you warmer and provide buoyancy that will make swimming easier. Short wetsuits or armless wetsuits are also permitted.

Join the Southampton Boat Show Charity swim for Rose Road!

This is a rare opportunity to swim past tall ships and super yachts at Britain’s biggest and best festival of boating, where there’s normally no access for swimming. You will access the water from the Southampton International Boat Show pontoons and swim 1km in the iconic Southampton docks. All swimmers get free entry to the Boat Show Festival after the swim. This exclusive, non competitive event brings together both experienced and novice open water swimmers for a unique swimming experience.

Rose Road is a Southampton based charity supporting children and young people with complex disabilities, and their families, providing respite, community outreach and information and advice services. Find out more here.

This annual swimming event is now in its third year and aims to raise at least £5,000 for the charity.

Our long established NYD’24 swim (13 years and counting!) is a perfect traditional cold water dip for aqualovers daring to be different. Located in Dock 9, MediaCityUK, the uber-friendly crowd and iconic Lowry Theatre backdrop guarantees top pics and crazy fun. Celebrate the start of a new year with family, friends and fellow cold water lovers! The invigorating water temperature will be 7c!

Swim Courses; There’ll be a 250m towfloat-compulsory course for competent swimmers who are then able to swim for as long as they safely want.

There is also a 100m non-towfloat course for dippers / swimmers who still want the buzz of a deliciously cold open water swim. Towfloats are still recommended  

Event Timings;

• Registration; 10.15-11am. 
• Swim times; To be confirmed closer to event day but it’s expected that there will be TWO ‘waves’ of swimmers entering the water at 15 minute intervals

This year we’re proud to support this amazing charity who provide specialist care for people impacted by life-limiting illness, including patients, families and loved ones. On a personal level Dave Q’s mum passed away in their Cheadle hospice in the 90’s and he is thankful for the loving support provided to her whilst alive.

Love Open Water is bringing back the – RD5 (Royal Docks 5km Swim) on Saturday, 13 July.

You’ll be challenged to swim 5 laps of the 1km course in one of 3 waves: Fast, Medium, or Relaxed. All waves are mass start.

This is the ideal opportunity to train for this September’s Dock2Dock event and familiarise yourself with the same stunning body of water. Gain an edge and boost your performance by diving into this thrilling experience.

RD5 isn’t just for competitive racers! If you prefer a more relaxed and enjoyable swim, it’s the perfect way to be part of a local event that’s brimming with fun and friendliness. Set your own pace and revel in the joy of swimming with a supportive community.

Worried about the time constraints? Fear not! Our swim cut-off time is an incredibly generous 4.5 hours, ensuring that you can complete the challenge comfortably and at your own pace.

Except for backstroke, you can choose any technique that suits you—whether it’s the sleek front crawl, the graceful breaststroke, the dynamic butterfly, the classic side stroke, or even the playful doggy-paddle!

Feel free to swim with the aid of a wetsuit or in ‘skins’ (swimsuit). The choice is yours!

Entry costs £40 which includes a free swim cap and a finisher’s medal. You must be at least 16 years old (on the day of event) and a NOWCA member to take part in this event. If you are not a NOWCA member yet, simply sign up or renew your membership via the ACTiO app (and choose Love Open Water London Royal Docks as your band collection venue).

Open water swimming race in the inner harbour of Nieuwpoort. In this fantastic setting, you swim in the shadow of the imposing King Albert I monument.

The Nieuwpoort Swim is one of the only open water swimming competitions in Belgium. The start is at the Old Fish Market and you swim towards the entrance of the largest marina in Northern Europe. As the start of the Long Course Weekend you swim against an international field of participants over 1.9km or 3.8km. Despite the sea water you swim in calm water because of the protection against the current of the channel and the spectators can also walk along the entire course. In the shadow of the West Front monument and with the finish on the Long Course Weekend festival grounds, this will undoubtedly be a race to remember.
